Artist's Biography
Bruce Atwell has performed throughout the United States, Europe an Asia as an orchestral musician and soloist. An Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Dr. Atwell maintains a busy teaching and performance schedule, with Principal Horn positions with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, the Green Bay Symphony, the Fox Valley Symphony, the Oshkosh Symphony, as a member of the Milwaukee Horn Quartet, and the chamber ensemble Infusion. He has performed with the Florida Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, as Acting Fourth Horn with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and with numerous orchestras throughout the United States. Dr. Atwell has appeared as soloist with the Florida Symphony, Winter Park Bach Festival, Ensemble for Eighteenth Century Music, Fox Valley Symphony, and Oshkosh Symphony, and in May 2006 with the St. Petersburg (Russia) Chamber Philharmonic. He has recently completed a recording of music for horn and voice by British composers that will be released in 2007. In the spring of 2008 Dr. Atwell will perform the Gliere Concerto with the Oshkosh Symphony and the Schumann Konzerstuck with the Fox Valley Symphony. He has also been invited to perform and present a lecture on the topic "Recital Preparation and Performance" at the 2008 International Horn Society Symposium.
