The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra
As the grandson of a professional opera singer, music has always been a prevailing force in his life. Raised in Lynbrook, New York right on the border of Queens, Ben spent a lot of his childhood between Lynbrook, Flushing and Valley Stream the homes of his grandparents. Music, whether it was Verdi or Frank Sinatra, was always playing. As a musician Ben has performed at places such as Birdland, Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, The Blue Note Jazz Club, the Cotton Club, Swing 46, The Falcon, The Strathmore and many others. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with great musicians such as Arturo O'Farrill, Dr. Cornel West, Jon Faddis, Ellis Marsalis, Terrell Stafford, Jerry Dodgion, Steve Turre, Gary Bartz, Bobby Porcelli, and others. He is a first call substitute trombonist for Arturuo O' Farrill and the (Grammy winning) Afro-Latin Jazz orchestra, and holds the second trombone chair in George Gee's 17-piece Swing Orchestra. A graduate of the State University of New York at Purchase College, he was a student of Tim Albright and John Fedchock. Currently, he is also a manager at the world famous Small's Jazz Club in Manhattan. He continues to perform in NYC and the surrounding areas with world renowned musicians, and is in the process of releasing his first record.
