Free-Lance Performer / Educator
Christopher Jeffery, after retiring from the USAF Regional Bands in 2011, is a relative new comer to the Southwestern Ohio music scene. In addition to growing a healthy free-lance and teaching schedule, has become a member of the Dayton Jazz Orchestra, the Ohio Valley British Brass Band, The Greater Dayton Brass Ensemble, the contractor & a performer for Wright State University’s Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures Pit Orchestras, appointed to the sub list for the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, with frequent calls from the Tom Daugherty Orchestra, Hal Harris Big Band, and Johnny Clueless & the Syndicate.
After 25 years of touring the world with assignments in Texas, Massachusetts, Japan, Hawaii and Belgium, the Air Force retired him in Dayton where Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to a wide variety of musical genres, from Concert Band to Brass Quintet, Jazz Band to Orchestra, Rock Bands to Liturgical and solo work; lead chair to section player, a true chameleon with a trumpet.
Chris is an Adjunct Professor-Trumpet at Indiana University East and Earlham College in Richmond IN, and has a strong trumpet studio in the Beavercreek area. Recently was invited to be one of three jurors for the first round of the 2017 National Trumpet Competition.
Chris’ studies outside of the military have included terms with Dr. Robert Stibler-UNH, Dr. John Carroll-UTSA, John Irish, Noel Langley-London and has shared the stage with many greats including: Clark Terry, Mel Torme, Darius Rucker, Allen Vizzutti, Vincent DiMartino, Mnozil Brass, The Pointer Sisters, The Mills Brothers, Chely Wright, Jiggs Whigham, The Japanese Self Defense Force Band, and the Boston Pops.
