Zoltan Gaàl is a trumpet player in the Hungarian Police Big Band and European Brass Ensemble.
Zoltan was born in a small village in East-Hungary. He started to play the trumpet at the age of 8. The first years were very successful. He was awarded first prize in many regional competitions, and also awarded a 3rd prize in the national trumpet competition. In 1994 he moved to Budapest to study at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Franz Liszt Music Teachers Training College. Zoltan graduated as a trumpet teacher in 2002. Finally, in 2004 he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in trumpet. His teachers were György Geiger and Jozsef Boros. Between 1998 and 2004 he played several times in the Hungarian Radio Orchestra, and also recorded several soundtracks with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. He has been in many masterclasses with Gàbor Tarkövi, Hans Gansch and Jerome Callet.
After Zoltan's final degree, he won an audition with the Central Band of Hungarian Defence Forces where he worked for almost 8 years. From 2012 Zoltan has been a member of the trumpet section in the Police Big Band, Budapest. He is also a current member of the European Brass Ensemble which conducted by Prof. Thomas Clamor.
