Central Conservatory of Music
Hailing from a musical family, Zhu Guang grew up with music surrounding him all the time. He started playing piano at the age of 5, his first teacher was his mother – Professor Shang Chengsong at China Central Conservatory of Music. And at the age of 10, he started playing trumpet under the influence of his father – Zhu Yaozhou, the pioneer of trumpet player and educator in China. During his study at Affiliated High School of Central Conservatory of Music, his talent in trumpet and music started shining. He won numerous prizes in trumpet competitions, including the International Music Festival of Prague in 1989. Also, as member of China Youth Symphony Orchestra, he played in Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong, Indonesia, etc.
Later he continued his study in Central Conservatory of Music, and got his master degree of trumpet performing in Sibelius Academy of University of Arts in Helsinki, studied under Professor Simo Rantanen, Jouko Harjanne, Anti Raty, and Bo Nilson. During the study and living in Finland, he performed the trumpet concerto Haydn with Symphony Orchestra of Sibelius Academy, and also as a guest trumpet and principal trumpet, he played at Tapiola Symphony Orchestra, Kuopio City Orchestra, Vaasa City Orchestra, and Finnish National Opera.
After returning to China in 2006, he started his teaching career at Central Conservatory of Music, and also played at China National Symphony Orchestra, National Ballet of China, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and National Opera House. His performance was well recognized and received enormous appraisals by both professionals and public.
In most recent years, many of his students won the prizes in musical competitions both in China and abroad.
Not only an enthusiast of professional teaching and performing, Mr. Zhu is also very active in public education in trumpet, he is the judge of several music competitions and the director of university band.
And he was awarded as BOB (Best of Best) teacher at Central Conservatory of Music.
