Jon Michael Brock is a Belton-Honea Path High School alumnus, and a former member of the Belton-Honea Path High School Band. He marched with the band for four years and served as Drum Major with the Marching Band for three years (1995-1999). He is a 2003 graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of Anderson College where he majored in Music Education with an emphasis in Trumpet Performance, and a 2008 graduate of Capella University, where he received a Master’s of Science with a Specialization in Educational Leadership.
During his fifteen year teaching career, he has worked as Director of Bands at Belton Middle School and the Assistant Director of Bands at Belton-Honea Path High School from 2003-2006, and as Director of Bands at Honea Path Middle School and Belton-Honea Path High School from 2006-2012. While in this capacity, the Marching Band at Belton-Honea Path High School made the 3A State Finals for the first time in school history in 2004, and has consistently done so for the past 12 years, including receiving the Bronze Medal in 2007 at the SCBDA State Finals. Since 2012 he has served as the Director of Bands at Belton-Honea Path High School. His bands have also received numerous awards at both the state Concert Performance Assessment and the state Jazz Performance Assessment.
He is also the Minister of Music at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Laurens. He is in his 22nd year of serving churches as a Minister of Music.
In addition to these duties, Jon Michael also serves as Adjunct Trumpet Instructor at Erskine College in Due West.He performs as principal trumpet with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra as well as Co-Principal with the Anderson University Wind Symphony. Mr. Brock performs exclusively on Bach Artisan Trumpets, and is an exclusive patron of Draisen-Edwards Music Center in Anderson, South Carolina.
He is professionally affiliated with many organizations including South Carolina Band Director's Association, South Carolina Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the International Trumpet Guild.
