Trombonist Rachel Castellanos is a native of the Chicago area. She
has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tucson Symphony, and the Orquesta
Sinfonica UANL in Monterrey, Mexico among others. Her versatility as
a musician has lent her opportunities to tour with the Alliance Brass
Quintet, perform at the Jazz Showcase, and perform with the Joffrey
Ballet, Ben Folds, Janelle Monet, Andrea Bocelli, Pete Townshend,
Clark Terry and Slide Hampton.
In addition to her performance career, Rachel currently teaches both
private trombone lessons and musicianship classes at the Music
Institute of Chicago.
After graduating from Oberlin Conservatory in 2008 with a double
major in Orchestral and Jazz performance, Rachel returned home to
complete her masters at the Depaul School of Music. Her pursuits
lead her to continue her studies at the Chicago College of the
Performing Arts.
When she is not involved in musical activities, Rachel enjoys
practicing and teaching yoga, running, and spending time with her
husband and two cats.
