A native New Yorker without the accent, Tom’s music career began in his home city of Manhattan, NY when he was accepted into the top group at the Drummers’ Collective. The founder and percussionist for the comedic group, Painfully Employed, Tom was also a member of the funk group, Firefighter Five and Friends. Kramer later became a baritone saxophone accompanist at such venues as Don’t Tell Mama, the Living Room, the 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church Concert Series, Playwrights Horizons, The Neighborhood Playhouse, and the Ensemble Studio Theater, all located in NYC.
In Los Angeles, Tom has performed with the late multiple Grammy-Award winner, Andrae Crouch, singer/guitarist Tommy Walker, and trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez, among others.
In January of 2015, Tom combined his sax and percussion talents and created, Saxocussionistâ„
In front of the camera, Kramer has appeared as a principal performer or spokesman in 48 national commercials ranging from the Liquid Plumr man, to the Total Cereal man, to a Miller Beer man. His roles on daytime and night time dramas include the shows, All My Children, and Law and Order. He has also lent his voice to various voice-over spots and hopes to get said voice back one of these days.
Additionally, he researched, photographed, and wrote for the award-winning PBS series, Nature, covering such subjects as cats, bats and horses. To this day, he’s allergic to two and still scared of one.
Tom is also a humorist in the religious world under the pseudonym, The Religious Rascal® and still contributes articles to religious publications whenever he’s feeling guilty.
Receiving a BA in communications from FDU in New Jersey, Tom is a member of AEA, ASCAP, Local 47, and SAG-AFTRA.
Growing up on Long Island and a long time resident of Manahattan’s Upper East Side, Tom now resides in La Crescenta, CA. with his wonderful wife, Marion.
Tom is a proud member of the Selmer Paris artists’ roster and exclusively plays the Selmer-Paris Series II 55 AFJBL baritone saxophone.
