Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Born in Votuporanga, Brazil, Anderson Romero is currently acting utility trumpet with the
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for their 2017-2018 season. Dr. Romero was the principal
trumpet with the Tatuí Symphony Orchestra in Brazil until he moved to the United States in 2009.
In addition to playing with the ASO, Dr. Romero has also played with The Atlanta
Opera, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Theatro Sao
Pedro Symphony Orchestra (Sao Paulo, Brazil), University of Sao Paulo Symphony
Orchestra, and Ensemble Opera Nova Zürich (Switzerland), with which he performed
multiple concerts in Brazil and Argentina.
As a chamber musician, Dr. Romero has performed with the Bulldog Brass Quintet,
Southern Arts Brass Quintet, and University of Sao Paulo Brass Quintet. In 2016 he
played with the Bulldog Brass Quintet at the Great American Brass Band Festival
featuring Mr. Philip Smith as soloist.In 2007, he toured Italy and Switzerland with the
USP Brass Quintet playing Brazilian music.
As a soloist, he has appeared with the Cal Poly Pomona Wind Ensemble, University of
Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and The University of Southern Mississippi Wind
Ensemble.
He was a finalist with the UGA Trumpet Ensemble at the National Trumpet Competition
in 2014, a finalist with the USM Trumpet Ensemble in 2011, and a semi-finalist in the
solo division in 2012 and 2014.
Dr. Romero holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the
University of Sao Paulo, a Master of Music degree from The University of Southern
Mississippi, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from the University
of Georgia. His primarily teachers include Philip Smith, Michael Tiscione, David Bilger,
Jason Bergman, Daniel Kelly, and Sergio Cascapera.
