David Rejano Cantero

Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra

Bio:

After being the Principal Trombone with the Orquestra Sinfonica de Navarra /Spain/ from 2002 to 2007, Principal Trombone with the Orquestra del Gran Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona (Barcelona Opera House) /Spain/ from 2007 to 2010, and Principal Trombone with the Münchner Philharmoniker /Germany/ from 2010 to 2016, David Rejano is the new Principal Trombone of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

David Rejano (1982) was born in Badajoz /Spain/, and initially studied music at the Conservatory in Madrid. Then he moved to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, with professor Gilles Millière, where he graduated with the "Diplôme de Formation Supérieur - Mention très bien à l'unanimité" and the "Prix Spécial du Jury".

As a student, David Rejano was a member of several youth orchestras, among them, the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra -WEDO- (with Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez).

He has also performed as a guest with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris or the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and frequently works together with Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, Kurt Masur, Christan Thielemann, Andris Nelsons or Valery Gergiev.

David Rejano appears frequently as a soloist in different Festivals, such as the Festival Européen du Trombone /Strasbourg, France/, Concours National de Trombone de France, the Sapporo Festival /Japan/, the Summer Brass Festival or the International Trombone Festival.

He is a sought-after teacher, giving Masterclasses as well as coaching youth orchestras all over the world in Japan, France, Germany, South Korea, Austria, USA, Guatemala or China. Moreover, he is the Trombone Professor of the Brass Academy Alicante and the Maurice André Academy in Spain.
