Jose Ruiz is an active trombonist and educator now in Miami, Fl after having resided and worked in Los Angeles CA for five years. Jose attained his BA in Jazz Performance from Florida International University. He's worked in diverse genres as a free-lance trombonist for the past 20 years, accompanying artists such as: Christian Castro, Eddie Santiago, Rey Ruiz, Lalo Rodriguez, Ismael Miranda, Lefty Perez, Arturo Sandoval, Nestor Torres, Paquito De Rivera, Richie Rey y Bobby Cruz, Tony Vega, Bobby Valentine, Tito Puente Jr., Jimmy Bosch, Choco Orta, Jose Alberto “El Canario,” , Cita Rodriguez, Pupy Cantor, Frankie Vazquez, Larry Harlow, WDNA All-Star Band, Jose Mangual, Jr.,Vernon Maytone, The Walcotts, Chester Whitmore Big Band and Psych Band, accompanying Bill Watrous .
In 2013 Jose won a Grammy for recording trombone on the Best Tropical Album of the year. Retro
