DFW Brass
Dr. Lacey Hays, founding member and Director of DFW Brass, has enjoyed a career in numerous settings, and has performed with orchestras throughout Europe as well as North, South and Central America. In addition to her Classical performances, Dr. Hays has performed with Johnny Mathis multiple times and has appeared locally for Broadway Tours such as A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (solo trumpet), Matilda (lead trumpet) and If/Then (solo trumpet) at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. She has also played for Dallas Summer Musicals on American in Paris. Dr. Hays has performed throughout the world including: Carnegie Hall in New York, St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the Verdi Opera House in Italy, the Alfredo San Malo Music Festival in Panama, the International Brass Festival in Mexico, the Young Euro Festival in Germany, and the Classical Music Festival in Austria.
In addition to participating in several recording projects, Dr. Hays can be heard on multiple DVDs, including: The Legacy, a documentary film featuring Gustavo Dudamel (Lobo Productions) and Messa Da Requiem with Placido Domingo conducting Verdi's Requiem (Glor Music Productions). Dr. Hays has also recorded for PIPE DREAMS, an Internationally Syndicated Broadcast. Dr. Hays performs throughout North Texas as a freelance artist, often serves as a clinician and adjudicator, and is a member of the Blast of Brass Ensemble.
Dr. Lacey Hays is on the faculty of both Mountain View College and North Central Texas College where she teaches trumpet and lecture courses. She is an alumnus of the Interlochen Summer Academy and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Dr. Hays hold degrees from The School of Music at The University of Oklahoma (BM, BME, DMA) and The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University (MM).
