China Philharmonic Orchestra
Liu Shuchang - Principal trombone of China Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was admitted to the affiliated middle school of China Central Conservatory of Music, after graduation he entered the Central Conservatory of Music in 2005. During his study he also served as principal trombone of China Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, he got the first prize of Central Conservatory of Music chamber music/solo competition in professional group. By the time of his graduation in 2009, he was rated as the best player and best performance in China Youth Symphony Orchestra, one of the few double-title winners.
While studying in Boston, inspired by the greatest musicians Toby Oft, Norman Bolter and Don Lucas, his performance became more and more appealing and expressive.
Since he joined China Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005, till now he has performed with his orchestra over hundred concerts worldwide. With the orchestra he has also been cooperated with remarkable conductors, artists and composers, such as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, Tan Dun, Ye Xiaogang as well as Chen Qigang. In 2014, as the first Chinese orchestra they made the debut concert in Proms at Royal Albert Hall. The concert received great recognition and praise.
Through all these years, Liu Shuchang actively participated in domestic and international activities, including masterclasses, workshops, solo performance and chamber music, which had helped him to accumulate rich experiences in performance and education. Meanwhile, he also took part in different recording session, such as chamber music, soundtrack etc. Unquestionably Liu is playing more and more important role in Chinese brass wind world.
