Mike Gillespie has performed literally thousands of concerts around the globe and USA extensively. Since 2013 he has been full time on the road playing trumpet. He was first trumpet on Elf the Broadway Musical 2015 and 2016 national tours, first trumpet on Shrek the Broadway Musical global tour 2016, split lead trumpet with the Glenn Miller Orchestra 2014 Japan tour, and worked as a musician on various ship ships.
Mike has been a part of hundreds of recording projects from arranger to performer to producer. He released his jazz trumpet EP in 2014 and it can be found on his website along with other musical samples. Check out www.mikegillespiemusic.com. Mike has played with The Platters, The Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey circus and numerous jazz bands and British style brass bands and regional theater productions from the San Francisco Bay area to Washington D.C. In 2008 he was a National Trumpet Competition jazz division finalist. He received his Bachelor’s of Music from The University of Oklahoma and a Master’s of Music from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Mike has been designing shows since 2006 and his aesthetic is informed by his years teaching high school marching bands, drum and bugle corps (The Cavaliers, The Santa Clara Vanguard, Carolina Gold) and marching as trumpet soloist in drum corps (The Cavaliers, Carolina Crown) and college band (Pride of Oklahoma).
Mike maintains a private lessons studio online and is available to take on students of any age or experience level in any location. He received his Master’s of Arts in Teaching degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has experience as a classroom teacher and private music instructor.
