SWR Big Band
Nemanja Jovanovic (born 1973 in Belgrade / Serbia) was accepted to the "Stankovic" Music High School for Special Gifted Children in Belgrade, where he graduated in 1995. While still at school, he played as an assistant at the Radio Big Band Belgrade, where he then became a regular contracted member in 1995.
He studied classical trumpet at the University of Music in Belgrade with Prof. M. Djordjevic and in 1997 he became the lead Trumpeter of the Radio Big Band Belgrade. During this time he played with Clark Terry, Ray Charles, Regy Johnson, Alvin Queen, Roy Hargrove, Diane Schuur, Jerome Richardson, Ed Tickben, Ack van Royen, Dusko Gojkovic, and Don Menza.
In the same period Nemanja was also the principal trumpet at the Musical Theater Belgrade and a permanent member of various jazz groups, Latin bands and studio productions.
Throughout his career he has participated in numerous tours at home and abroad such as Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Israel, Greece, China, and Malta.
Today Nemanja resides in Munich Germany and is in high demand as top level freelance and studio musician, he also holds a lecturers position for Jazz trumpet at the University of Munich and is the lead trumpeter of the SWR Big Band.
