Pershing's Own US Army Band
MSG Steve Ticknor currently serves as Principal Saxophonist for Pershing’s Own United States Army Concert Band; the Premier Musical Ensemble of the U.S. Army. A Kansas native, Steve joined the Washington D.C based unit in 1997 while completing his Master’s degree of Saxophone Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree from the Wichita State University. Steve has been featured numerous times as a soloist with the Army Band and Orchestra during high profile events to include performances at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Avery Fisher Hall, the U.S. National Mall, and the U.S. Capital.
In addition to his career at The U.S. Army Band, Steve has had the great fortune to be a part of local music outreach through his work in education and as a clinician. He has taught both at the National Cathedral School and the Washington Conservatory of Music, and has worked with a myriad of student musicians in and around the Washington DC area school system. Steve has been featured as a guest lecturer and performer for the Ambassador and staff of the Embassy of Belgium, as well as being the clinician and artist in residence for a variety of events across the United States of America. Prior to taking his position with Pershing’s Own, Steve could be found entertaining throngs of Disney guests, performing with the Disney Music and Entertainment Company. Steve resides in Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
