Wang Xuanyu, the Associate Principal Trombone of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Member of Trombone and Tuba Federation of Chinese Band Society and Founder of Guangzhou Low Brass Ensemble. Wang has also won the runner up in the Fifth Chinese National Chamber Music Competition with his brass solo. Wang began to learn trombone with Mr. Guo Zheng, Professor of Trombone in Xinghai Conservatory of Music and former Principal Trombone of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, when he was 15. In 2003, Wang was admitted and received scholarships by Orchestral Instruments Department of Central Conservatory of Music with his outstanding academic achievement in trombone. During the studies at Central Conservatory of Music, Wang was majoring in trombone and band ensemble. His teacher is the Dean of Orchestral Instruments Department of Central Conservatory of Music and former Assistant Principal Trombone of China Philharmonic Orchestra, Professor Zhao Ruilin.
Wang had studied with a number of well-known trombonists, such as Jarod Vermette, Principal Trombone of Hong Kong Philharmonic; Professor Andrea Conti from Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di ROMA; Professor Gilles Millière from Conservatoire national de Paris France, etc. Wang had also received personal guidance by the world renowned conductor, Seiji Ozawa, in 2004.
Wang was invited as the Principal Trombone of Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. He was the Guest Player of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Guest Principal Trombone of Guangzhou Zhuying Orchestra when he was 17. When Wang was in college, he was the Guest Player of China Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal Trombone and Tenor Horn of China Youth Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, and Brass Ensemble. He had also led the China Youth Trombone Quartet to participate many international performance during his time in college. He has been the Trombone player of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra since 2006.
Wang had participated in many international music events, for example, the live performance and recording work for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 15th Asian Games. He had also involved in Beethoven Festival in Bonn, opening ceremony of Europalia Festival in Belgium, Asia-Pacific Weeks Berlin, SliderAsia Music Festival and so on. In 2010, Wang was invited to perform for the former President of Republic of China Hu Jintao and state leaders Xi Jinping in the Lantern Festival organized by CPC Central Committee as the Brass quintet of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.
Beside his performing schedule, Wang also dedicated himself into the Trombone education. He conducts and coaches Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra and Brass team of Guangzhou Student Symphony Orchestra. He has also involved in many social musical activities.
